Ok, last night I came home from Edinburgh, a pretty little city, thought I’d write something about it. A lot of my friends, except the four I was going with wondered "what the fuck" I was going to do in Edinburgh, compared to cities like New York and Paris, Edinburgh doesn’t contain heaps of must-sees.
The main shopping street, Princes street was ok I guess, with the usual Topshop, Zara, Build a bear, HMV,Waterstones…What was really pretty about Princes street was Princes Street gardens, a park with colorful flowers (still, in september!), benches and a house, reminding me of that from Hansel and Gretel. Royal Mile, the tourist street was a pain. Anyhow I saw the Edinburgh castle, but skipped The Hollyrood House, castles are pretty. I also laid my eyes on Greyfriar’s Bobby and the statue of Adam Smith, although I don’t agree one hundred percent with his economic view it was cool to see. The fact that he wore a traffic cone on his head, looking like a clown, made it all the more enjoyable. We also went on one of those "mandatory" ghost trips, ok I guess, not too spooky, the tour guide freaked me out more than her stories did.

All the hours in between was spent eating or drinking. We got the best dinners at The elephant house who also served the tastiest hot chocolate ever, or uhm, more like Fleur’s fantasy, hot chocolate with bailys. We had some tasty kahlua at The Bank bar, watching some soccer game, but the tastiest coffees and the best atmosphere was found at Black Medecine coffee close to the Uni of Edinburgh. They had free Wi-Fi too…Spent quite a few hours there, Live had some homework to do and I tagged along, was about to blog about the two dickheads on the table next to us talking about how cheap norwegian and swedish girls are but then I realised that scotts do understand english…Anyways the coffee, the tuna melts and the staff were great, and the had pretty take-away cups too! Situated right by the Uni gave me a chance to pretend I was a uni student too, I felt sooo cool and even sneaked in on a law lecture on thursday. Oh yeah, on that note…we got student discounts almost everywhere, even Topshop!

I feel like I should write something about our accomodation as well, it was my first time staying at a hostel, so naturally I was a bit sceptic, but it was GREAT better than some of the hotels I’ve stayed at.
edit: Added a photo of Adam Smith
